"Alcohol should be avoided because metronidazole and alcohol together can cause severe nausea, vomiting, cramps, flushing, and headache." Source(s): http://www.medicinenet.com/metronidazole...
the yeast will multiply and infest your system more.
I think it just kills the effectiveness of the pills, so the medicine you went and got and paid for is wasted.
Flagyl is metabolized in your liver. So is alcohol. The combination of the two together overworks your liver. You probably wouldn't even be able to tell, but it's like taking a half bottle of tylenol at one time.

Don't take the flagyl anymore if what you're having is a yeast infection. Take diflucan or miconazole inserts. Flagyl isn't for yeast infections. It's usually prescribed for intestinal tract infections or urinary tract infections.
I'm an RN, worked in hospital for over 10 years.
