Is it safe to swim in a chlorinated pool when you have a yeast infection? |
That may be a ridiculous question but I'm just curious. I haven't been officially diagnosed as having a yeast infection (and I've never had one) but I'm almost positive that it's what I have. But as most of you probably know, it's EXTREMELY hot outside and I'd love to take advantage of my pool... Any thoughts? Yes. Just make sure you wash your bathing suit and towel after, and make sure you dry your parts really well. The heat probably contributed to you getting the yeast infection, so cooling down will make you feel less itchy. But do get monistat or canesten and treat the damn thing! The chemicals in your pool will prevent spread of the yeast, but it could also make you a good deal more uncomfortable when those chemicals hit your labia. I'd take a shower to cool off. i think it wqould actually help things out :-) I would say that is sick! I would try swimming in the bath tub till it clears up. I would think the chlorine would be uncomfortable (burn)...not to mention, even with it in there, I wouldn't want to get in a pool knowing someone with a yeast infection had been swimming around in it. Good yeast infection cures can get rid of it in 1 - 3 days...surely you can wait that long? It's safe. If you have itching "downstairs" or swelling or it feels like you have tiny paper cuts, it is a yeast infection. Discharge also may occur. Chloride may kill any germs you may have so that it will not spred to anyone else but it will definately NOT hurt you. IF anything, it will help. |
