I had my wisdom teeth taken out and I think I now have a yeast infection from the antibotics. What do I do? |
I dont really know how to treat a yeast infection since im a male, and its really painful itchy and red. Sounds nasty and even wierd but I need help. Call your Dr., but for future reference, when taking antibiotics it is imperative to take probiotics as well. Acidophilus is a good one, it will prevent the "good bacteria" from being killed off. CALL YOUR DOCTOR!! Wow! Sorry to hear that... I never thought of a guy being able to get that. You need to call the doctor asap! It will get worse before it gets better. drink some cranberry juice, and up your water intake. also, cut back your dosage. say, if you take it 3 times a day take it 2 times a day. it will still work. if it's really bad, go to a drug store, tell them you need some yeast infection medicine for your wife, and let them pick one out. Being that I'm not male I dont know if treating a yeast infection is different between genders. The best solution is to see a doctor and he/she will prescribe you with something. ~Phoenix This will sound weird, but I got really sick one time and had to be on antibiotics for 6 weeks and there was no avoiding the yeast infection, and no store bought or perscription remedies will help until AFTER you're done with the antibiotics, so my doctor told me to eat a yogurt every single day. It completely worked. There is some bacteria in the yogurt that counteracts the yeast infection. It can be any flavor or kind, just be sure to have one a day as long as you're on the antibiotics and it should clear up. By the way, if it's really bothering you, try applying some vaseline to the area after you get out of the shower and dry off. Yeast infections are irritated by moisture (think sweat and other body fluids!) so the vaseline gives it a protective coating to keep out the moisture and help the itching stop! This sucks and I feel bad for you, but I hope my advice helps! |
