Are there any complications of having a bad yeast infection during pregnancy? |
I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and I have a yeast infection from taking some antibotics for a sinus infection, except it is a REALLY bad infection. I called my OB doctor and she recomended over the counter medication, but I am concerned with how this "the infection" and "the medicine" affects the baby? Any personal experences? Having a yeast infection during pregnancy is very common. I had them while pregnant and have never had one since (thankfully). :) You must remember that your OB knows what they are doing. They know what is safe for you to take and what isn't. The baby is very well protected from the infection. So don't worry about that. For your sanity you need to get the Yeast infection cleared up..if it progresses and gets worse then you will have a problem. The beauty of buying over the couter stuff. Go talk to the pharmacist...they are very helpful and can help ease your concerns. Good Luck! The medicine will not harm your baby in any way. I had a yeast infection while I was pregnant, and my doctor said to use the 7 day treatment because it would be much more effective than the 3 day or 1 day ones. Sometimes the yeast infection can show up in the baby's mouth after the birth...but it's easily treated and doesn't seem to bother them. My second daughter had it. It's called thrush when it's in their mouths. it won't affect the baby if u don't take the meds if u don't take it will get worse and could affect the baby |
