I think I might have a yeast infection and I am 13 weeks pregnant..? |
I have never had a yeast infection before so I really am not sure if this is what I have. I hear that they are common in pregnancy, and I am 13 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I noticed that I am slightly itchy, red and swollen. I don't have the nasty discharge that you hear about with these kind of infections. What do you think? What could this be? And if I do have one, I know I need to call my doctor but they are not open until Monday morning. Any recommendations on what I could do in the meantime? (Only serious answers please. I am pregnant and I don't care to hear about the lame "baking bread" jokes or whatever..) It may be a yeast infection but don't worry they are so common during pregnancy. I am 35 weeks and I have had 2 of them so far. I know that you can take monistat 7 for it, but you should just hold out and let your doctor diagnose you. They are normal. I recommend you wait until you see your doctor, who knows what medications are ok to take while pregnant. He will, more than likely, prescribe 2 things: 1 1 time use vaginal cream & 10 day pills that are fine to take. 'Til then, try to keep the eare clean & dry so other bacteria don't worsen the yeast infection. This is common so don't be alarmed...If you've taken an antibiotic recently that could be contributing too. They will probably tell you to get monistat or write you a script for Diflucan...If your concerned about what to use wait till Monday. I would go ahead and get some of the cream that you can use externally for now just so you aren't miserable all weekend. Sounds like a yeast infection but because you are pregnant you shouldn't do anything until consulting with your doctor. But do make sure you use suppositories and not the creams because the applicators for the creams are longer then the ones for the suppositories. Again, please see your doctor first especially since this would be your first time with these symptoms. Congrats on the pregnancy! CALL THE DOCTOR AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. DON'T LET IT GO ON FOR A LONG TIME. YEAST INFECTIONS ARE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Go get yogurt with active cultures and eat as many cups as you can. Buy the organic yogurt better for you and baby. Go to drug store and look at the labels on vagisil see if it says you can use when pregnant that slows itching down, but you should really ask the pharmacist if you can use it they know. No sex. No baths just shower and keep yourself dry. It could be a bacterial infection instead of a yeast infection if there is no "curdy" dischard with it. No worries this is treated alot like the yeast infection, the doctor will give you some cream you put in before bedtime, and youll notice a huge difference almost immediately. Dont feel bad, pregnancy makes your whole body go haywire, and this is very common! If the itching is unbearable, which Im sure it is, try soaking in a bath, buying some baby powder to keep the moisture off your skin, or looking in a pharmacy for a feminine cream you may be able to use, untill you can get into the doctors. Good Luck. |
