Help finding the right yoga DVD?

There are so many different videos on yoga, I am beginner as in never tried it before and want to start trying it now but i am overwhelmed by the selection. I'm 18, i weigh around 120. I am skinny, but I am extremely flabby and i have a stomach bulge (mind you, im not pregnant its just from junk food). My arms, butt, thighs, calves are very flabby i would like to make them firm and i would like to smooth out my stomach (get rid of that bulge). I've tried running on my parents treadmill and running but i have rhumatoid arthritus and it hurts me so would like to try out yoga.

Aranya is right: I have Shiva Rea's "Yoga Shakti" and can confirm it is a very good choice.

Rea is a knowledgeable instructor, plus the dvd feature that allows you to somewhat 'program' pose sequences is unique among the many yoga dvd's out there.

However, given your concern about 'flab', I would recommend you find some sort of true cardio activity to supplement your yoga practice.

Something that keeps your pulse and respiration evenly elevated for a sustained period of time (20 minutes minimum; longer is better), like stationary cycling, elliptical machine, rowing machine ...even just sustained fast paced walking.

I realize it may be a challenge to find an activity like that which does not aggravate your RA symptoms.

While "Yoga Shakti" is a Vinyasa style practice (an uninterrupted series of connected poses coordinated with the breath), which with regular practice will definitely tone muscle, you may not find it vigorous enough to significantly burn off the fat that over-lies muscle tissue (the sub-cutaneous fat/"flab", as opposed to intra-muscular fat).

Although you could always try an even more vigorous style of yoga, such as Power Yoga or Ashtanga, those styles may also be challenging with RA.

Good luck and success with whatever you try,

One of my favorites is from Shiva Rea called Shakti Yoga. She has a lot of DVD's out there and she is very good. The DVD has a matrix that allows you to pick different routines to create your own. She shows you how to modify the poses i.e for beginers that cannot do the full pose. Check out some of the ratings for her DVD's on amazon and see if it right for you.
