Will yoga, press-ups and crunches "work" as a light workout?

Basically, I'm a bit weedy and want to get some vague muscle tone. I'm not going for big and beefy here, just to improve fitness. I'm also planning on going running after the workout; as聽my metabolism will be up and I'll be warmed up from the yoga, this seems like a good time to do it. (The idea is to improve endurance and general fitness.)

Oh, and would about three times a week (mon, wed, fri) be about right for this? I don't really exercise and this seems like a fairly good place to start.

I find going to the gym really effing boring, not to mention that it costs anything from 拢25-拢60/month (which I just can't afford).

Oh鈥?and I'm doing "Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies"鈥?it's intense for me, but I'm only starting. Doesn't leave me hobbling around in a mangled mess (yet).

3 times a week minimum. And don't mistake yoga for being a light excercise. I had a mate you got really into body-building, running and all that jazz. He was pretty fit and pushed himself hard. However, after his wife had dragged him to her yoga classes he admitted it was the toughest thing he'd done.

So thumbs up to the yoga. Be sure to do plenty of effective stretching whenever you can - the yoga will test your flexibility to the full. But it will be worth it.
