Know anything about YOGA?


Yoga is on tonight, if I go it will be my first 1.5hr class. I am lacking motivation though... I want to do it for fitness, relaxation for my anxiety and for health but dont know the real benefits. Will I notice any effects straight away, should I go or is it a waste of money?? I want to go but dont know if watching my fave shows on same time is better, help me with this dilemma and what do you know about yoga?

i was seriously just like this about 2 months ago. my friend wanted to drag me there and im like. do i REALLY want to spend $15 for an hour of stretching and ohmmmmmm.

but after 2 or 3 visits, i started to feel more relaxed and have more energy. i stopped stressing out so much. i think its more of a gradual thing, the benefits. at first i kinda just thought it was a waste, but then i saw improvements with myself. and here i am, 2 months later. happier, more flexible, and constantly energized and stress free!

It depends on the instructor. Some will just teach you to stretch and breath. If you want learn to develop internal energy (chi), to regulate your blood pressure, metabolism, state of relaxation at will and in any surroundings, look up a class in QiGong (sometimes spelled Chi Kung).

If you lack motivation, you will quit everything you try. Your shows are just things to take your mind off of focusing inside yourself, which is what you need to do to finally find peace & contentment, and a high level of health during your whole life. Disease is emotionally based, so you definitely need to learn to calm your emotions. Don't be afraid to look within and change the things that you will recognize and have to acknowledge about yourself. This is the path to emotional and spiritual growth.

You already mentioned them yourself:

Fitness -- You will build strength and increase flexibility. You'll look more toned and feel taller.
Relaxation -- Breathe in, breathe out... Always helps! Also, a lot of positions unkink the tension in your body, making you feel like a baby.
Health -- You'll feel calmer and in tune with your body, so you'll treat yourself and others better. Stress/anxiety elevates the levels of cortisol in your body, which can make you chubby (I have an article about this, I'll quote if you want) and hinders muscle development, as well as heightens your risk of heart problems. Yoga counters all that and then some.

I love yoga and pilates and I do it at home to a dvd all the time.

it relaxes you, gets rid of muscle tension and stress.

it's a great way to stretch those muscles and burn calories.

But if you want motivation, buy a yoga dvd and try having a friend over and do yoga together at home. it's fun, relaxing, and my girl friends and i do it all the time.

as you age you will age better than everyone else. it decreases your chances of joint problems and arthritis. you can even get more flexible from it. be patient. nothing good comes so quick. but if you stick with it you will be happy you did. my motivation when i am tired is i think of myself as an old lady. do i want to ave to use a walker? no. well then i will do everything i can to help prevent that

Yes you will!! I did a free class because I did this thing called english fest and It was amazing. I woke up the next morning feeling more taller and I also looked more toned. I would do it because even if you don't see it at your first time it is relaxing and alot of FUN!!!
