What are the effects of yoga on a person with autism? It really depends on the abilities and skills of the person. If the person has issues with impulsive behaviors or frustration, yoga can help teach them how to relax, become more self-aware of their feelings, and learn appropriate ways to self-regulate unpleasant feelings. Many people with autism have challenges with these issues. For me (I have Asperger's), it's incredibly relaxing. Just start slow, don't push it - some of the things are downright difficult, especially if you have balance or coordination issue.
