Does anyone get emotional like crying during yoga?

I sometimes find myself getting teary eyed during the relaxation or dedication times of yoga. And one time I actually started balling crying. Does anyone else get overwhelming emotions during yoga?

It is true, our bodies do store emotion, and yoga can help with the release of that emotion. It is okay to cry, this can be normal. it happens. The best thing to do is when you feel it coming on again, don't be afraid or alarmed by it. Let the emotion come out. Your instructor may even be familiar with this, which is very likely.
For the girl who said she cries heavily sometimes during yoga, that could really be an indicator that she is storing a lot of emotion and perhaps trauma in her body, and the energy flow is blocked. The yoga begins to open the flow, and the emotion wants to complete it's journey and release. Let it. :) It's okay. Don't be alarmed by it, accept it, embrace it, tell it that it's okay to come out and it is welcome to leave.
Perhaps you might try practicing at home where you feel safer and when the emotion comes, you dont' have to retreat, but you can continue your practice, in tears if you must. It is very healing.
I found two articles on this very subject if you'd like to read them. The first is:
http://www.yogajournal.com/for_teachers/...

the second is geared more toward the general populace:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21073097/

I think you'll find reading both of them very informative and helpful.

Good luck!

Oh, my gosh. I thought I was the only one in the world who did this. I start crying my head off ANYTIME I try to do yoga. Even when I was in a yoga class full of perfect strangers I couldn't control myself and had to run out of the room! My mom thinks maybe I'm just such a tense person that trying to relax is so unnatural for me it makes me cry.

I feel quite blissed out during yoga relaxation but I heard that because you store emotion in your body that sometimes yoga can release these emotions and that it why it might make you cry.

I do when I sit in the middle of my yard and cross my hands and sit and close my eyes. I just think of memories about things as I relax. And makes me cry. lol

no i dont.
