What are benefits of practicing HOLY YOGA of Great country INDIA? How many of you practice YOGA regularly?


i am very thin,weak and also suffur from negative thinking and several physical problems

can yoga could cure all these powers?

if i will practice YOGA for long terms like of 4 years, 3 years,what are the long term results,what i will achieve if i will practice it for 3 years like that

does yoga also increase physical strength?

Now, since this question has come up on the Indian questions I suppose you are an Indian. Why of all you an Indian should call Asanas as Yoga. This terminology some body from the west has coined for Asanas. it is like calling the study of Anatomy as the study of Health and all its related problems. It is true that Anatomy is a part of Health, but the study of health is a far vaster subject.
Asanas and Pranayam form part of HathaYoga, ie. all the part of yoga that practices through body.
Yoga means union with God. This union may be affected through body, vital or life, mind and through psychic or soul. It is far more easier to obtain that union if we go in a reverse way than starting at the lower end , that is body.
Sri Aurobindo has propounded a theory, which he calls Integral Yoga, where all the four's perfection is taken up , so that the ujnion with God may be made through all of our being.
he says ,' All Life is Yoga.' Thus in avery activity of our daily life we have lok for him and find Him.

Your negative thinking may be improved more by RajYoga , or by teaching and practice of Lord Buddha's Dhammapada, that is working with mind. Be a positive and optimistic man . See the half-full bottle and not the other empty-half. See the good, the beautiful, the lovely and the all-embracing in everything and always.

The Asanas, work directly with body and indirectly with nerves, life , mind and soul. As for your all the advantages derived through Asanas, we may look through books or beb-sites :

Basic asanas: These basic asanas can be practiced by anyone without a yoga teacher.

Asana Benefits
a) Dandasana This asana relaxes the body and mind before and after doing more difficult asanas.
b) Swastikasana Stimulates sciatic nerve, tightens abdominal muscles and maintains inner body temperature. Suitable for meditation.
c) Saasthaangasana Relaxes the body and mind before and after doing difficult asanas, improves digestion and respiration; and many more beneficial asanas are based on this posture.
d) Taalasana Cleans and removes the fat around the abdomen, strengthens the spine and helps in increasing the height.
f) Padmasana Improves concentration and digestion. Relaxes the mind. Suitable for meditation. Many asanas and therapeutic procedures are based on this asana.
g) Vajrasana Relaxes knees, ankles, feet & sciatic nerves. Improves digestion and reduces flatulence. There are many therapeutic procedures and difficult asanas based on this posture.
h) Shavasana Relieves hypertension, insomnia, head ache, backache, sciatica, dizziness, mental weakness and hot flushes. This posture relaxes the body and mind before and after doing many other asanas.
