Is doing yoga good for losing weight?


I'm only looking at about five pounds here, not a hundred. I used to be extremely flexible [splits all three ways and "over spilts"...google it! :) ] but becuase I overdid it one time, I couldn't strech for a couple of months and it killed my flexiblity. But, I digress.

If it is good for losing weight, how often should I attend a month/week and should I invest in classes or a DVD? [I know classes are the best pick, but I'm short on cash].

Yoga isn't the best activity in the world for weight loss, but it's better than nothing. If you want to have an impact on your weight you should be aiming for at least an hour a day.

I'm not sure why you think classes are the best, it doesn't really matter as long as you actually do the exercise and don't miss any days out.

If you want to ramp up your efforts consider replacing the yoga with something a little more exertive, such as walking, running, cycling or swimming.
