Yoga -- twice a week, 60mins per session? |
Will doing yoga twice a week, 60mins each session be "enough"? I'm 24 and my goal is to maintain my body figure, and yoga will be my main source of exercise when winter comes and I can't do outdoor activities anymore. I have to work shifts and my "weekend" is actually wed & thurs, so it's really hard to fit so many yoga sessions into my schedule. It's a hassle to get up really early, do my yoga, shower, and Then go to work since I work until very late at night. I've been doing yoga for more than 20 years. I'm now fifty years old, have an excellent figure and am more supple than most 20 year olds. Due to work commitments, I can no longer attend a weekly class, the most I manage is every other week during term-time. However, as I have been doing this for so long and am at quite an advanced level, I try to do 10 minutes every evening before I go to bed. I have a few different routines that I've come up with that I vary depending on my mood. If I'm not in the mood or too tired I give it a miss for that night and don't beat myself up over than. I find that this ten-minute routine actually keeps me fit and healthy and very supple. You need to attend classes for a good few years to get to the stage where you can practise on your own effectively. The routines are so effective because I have learned to do the postures "mindfully" and synchronise the breathing with the movements. I'd certainly recommend yoga if you only have time for one activity. Yes, it's enough! I see you'll need to practice it at home also. Yoga is simple, yet effective way to stay in shape, be more flexible and keep your entire health. yoga tones the body...you still gotta do some cardio...try going for 30 min walks daily, or turn on some music and dance/skip rope if the weather outside doesnt allow you to go for brisk walks |
