Yoga or Meditation for Beginers?


I want to start yoga or meditation at home by my self what's the best way for some one to start who has never done this before.

Yoga is a mental excercise as well as a physical excercise.
The best technique for any person contemplating to take up yoga is not to contemplate but to concentrate - on how yoga and its techniques is escalating into a world wide epidemic where yoga exercises are helping ailing patients and others who seek peace of mind.

There is a meditation which promises everything - enlightenment, samadhi, spiritualism etc.

And it is also the simplest.

AnaPana(breath) :

Sit down in any erect posture & simply watch your natural breathing. Incoming , outgoing , in between . Do not try to modify the pace , just watch the natural rhythm. In the mean time try to see that no thought crosses your mind even if any thought arises stop it & again bring your attention to the breathing. Keep doing. Initially you will think that - What am I doing ? But slowly you will know the results. Remember , dont add any mantra etc.

This is the meditation with which Buddha achieved enlightenment under bodhi tree in Gaya.

I have tried yoga and meditation and to me meditation is more...convenient because you can do it with little room (no stretching room.) But everyone is different so I suggest youu give both a try seperately but rember that there is no reason at all not to do both. Yogists actually not only do yaoga but also meditates.

I think Meditation is good for beginners. For your info there is a unique meditation called Transcendental Meditation. Its very easy to practice at home and good for our healthy life. To learn Transcendental Meditation you first attend a free introductory lecture, at which you learn about the value and benefits of regular practice of the technique. Yoga and meditation are Inter-Linked together. So, yoga poses helps and prepare you to meditate and, Vice versa. Meditation will help you in your yoga exercises. Yoga is a mind/body connexion! Go with it.
