What is the difference between pilates and yoga?

What is the difference between pilates and yoga?

yoga is more like a streaching exercise and pilates is more of a ab workout...
the spelling
I think Pilates works the abdomen more and has fewer joint stretches. Yoga has more stretches and focuses on the spine. Both require practice in breath control.

Good luck!

The Pilates method of exercise is all about control, precision and the use of breath to facilitate movement. These movements are designed to focus the mind and strengthen the body.

Svastha yoga approaches each person as a unique individual, honouring different needs, goals and limitations. It is a means to promote structural health by improving both strength and flexibility in the spine, and to bring about mental steadiness by focusing on proper breathing.

Pilates is similar to aerobics and can use equipment. Yoga also uses breathing and stretching techniques.
