Is it possible to increase your height by stretching the spine everyday, using yoga exercises? |
Is it possible to increase your height by stretching the spine everyday, using yoga exercises? As a yoga instructor, this is a question I cannot answer with either a yes or no. Yoga does offer many asanas or poses that focus on the elongation of the spine. In our day-to-day activities (such as walking, running, sitting, etc) and especially as we get older, the space between each vertebrae decreases. This is why elderly people actually get shorter-- their height decreases mainly because the spine has degenerated and shortened. What yoga does is delay or to a certain degree prevent this from happening by helping you create more space between each vetrebrae-- resulting in a longer, more elongated spine. This is achieved in certain forward bends, backbends, twists and inversions. Also, since yoga greatly helps improve our posture, we also look taller (as opposed to someone hunched with poor posture). To answer your question, yoga could POSSIBLY increase your height. It will most definitely make you look and feel taller. More importantly, it will maintain a healthy spine slowing the the aging process of the spine getting shorter. Source(s): I am a certified yoga instructor. no no honey! I don't think so, u people have a natural height increase rate. Anyway I know people that play Basketball and they are taller since they started to play that, maybe its because of their age, because i don't know +22 people that grew playing it. It is possible that it could work. It could work better if you are under 25. In China, there are body surgery that stretch your height (legs/arms) to a few centimeters longer. Apparently it's popular with the young people there as they want to look better. But it's rather painful and I'm not sure of the side effects. |
