Do all Hindus practise yoga? Is it an integral part of hinduism? I am english.? dear Friend, Not all Hindus precise YOGA . Majority of Hindus do Pooja(worship) of their deities daily.Even in rural areas there will be Graama devataas (Village Gods and Goddesses) and they will be worshipped regularly.Coming to your specific question of Yoga, it is not mandatory for all Hindus to do Yoga. But there are three main yogas1.Karma Yoga (doing your duties faithfully )2.Gnaana Yoga (Wisdom and reflections of god in mind and thought)and 3.bhakti Yoga (Devotion to God..singing songs and prayers etc).Every Hindu will be doing one of these yogas. but the Yoga Aasanas and Yogic method (Hatha YOGA) are not generally practised by many.and it is not compulsory either. All Roads lead to Rome..similarly all paths in Hinduism are so designed to lead one to realisation of the ultimate. I hope this answer helped you. radhakrishna I know that yoga definitely probably came from Hinduism, and I would have to assume that it is a large part of Hinduism in that case. I don't understand your last statement/question hehe Namaste No, it is entirely a matter of personal choice for most hindus to perform yoga. Only the sadhus (or saints) perform yoga compulsorarily and with strictness. And it is very beneficial to perform yoga. No, Not All, It is not an integral part of Hinduism. Well some English people do practice yoga . NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO I don't think that only Hindus practise yoga. even other communities are also practising yoga No not an integral part. it is just that many hindu saints started Yoga. It is just a choice. Many englishmen also practise yoga and pranayama |
