Does anyone have success w/ a Wellbutrin and Zoloft combination for anxiety/depression?

My wife has started on Wellbutrin because of the sexual side effects of SSRI's. However, she has been feeling terribly depressed and anxious lately and has started taking Zoloft (which she had from before). After starting on Zoloft 50mg, she has been feeling MUCH better. It's like night and day. I've since advised her (although I'm not a practitioner) to up her dose to 75mg for several days and then to 100mg. The dosage range is 50mg-200mg and I was wondering if anyone has had personal experience as to how much difference increasing the dose within this range has had for them. I'd appreciate it if you leave out the "Always check with your doctor first" or "Don't do anything without your doctor's advise" type of statements. Just be honest with what has worked for you. Thanks and have a great day!

I have major depression. I was taking 100 mg Zoloft and 150 mg of Wellbutrin daily. Had to be hospitalized because it wasn't working. While in the hospital my doctor doubled my dose on both, and now I haven't been depressed for 4 years. It's a wonderful combination for me. 200 mg Zoloft and 300 mg Wellbutrin. I have lots of energy. I'm up at 5 AM raring to go. And I've lost 32 pounds in 4 years.

For your wife, I think that's too high of a dose to go to right now. It has to be increased gradually in most cases and that's a lot of medication.

I sincerely hope you wife continues to improve. Good luck!
my mom had a zoloft/wellbutrin combo and it made her worse
Wellbutrin is solely a depression medication and Zoloft is a combination of depression and anxiety. She is taking two of almost the same thing. As a pharmacist, I recommend her trying Effexor. It is not an SSRI, it is an SRI, and is a combo that targets both depression and anxiety. Most importantly, this medication has the least adverse effects when it comes to sexual side effects. Too many drugs that have similiar or almost identical uses, don't necessarily improve one's symptoms. Instead of loading more on, why not decrease the number of meds your wife is on, and target the real symptoms. Hope this helps.
